Pretty Cool?
When choosing an AIR CONDITIONER, choosing the lowest price is most tempting.
But in practice, that might be the worst, and most expensive choice.
Both in operational (electric) cost to operate, as well as personal safety.
Lugging, lifting, installing, and not harming the property (or a neighbor below)
can all easily be remedied with a PORTABLE (rolling) A/C unit.
And, as only the exhaust HOSE goes out the window, the unit can be ideally situated and cooling can be directed.
IF HOWEVER you are relying on a old style "window rattler"...
Be sure it put in the window on a board, and not placed directly on the sill or vinyl window frame.
ALSO: Remember to check that your unit is pitched down, to the outside, or the condensate can roll in and cause expensive damage to framing or flooring.
When our area's short cooling season ends, all A/C units must be removed and stored away during heating season. Again, portable units are most practical as they can be removed and rolled into closet, and without assistance.
PER THE LEASE,
Units must be removed, "window and storm windows must be closed during heating season (10/1 to 4/1 yearly)."
